You can definitely get planes to use long strips of runways by doing this! Play around with these for a bit to see how far you can go without planes bumping into each other all the time. Third, the take-off/landing lengths for aircraft can be tweaked with the Advanced Vehicle Optionsmod through its acceleration and brake settings. Don't forget you need to connect the runways/taxiways with a workshop asset Airport Terminal/Cargo building and provide for taxiways going in and out of the platforms/aprons though! I'd have liked to be able to link some right now, but the workshop is down for me at the moment.
Second, custom-made airports built with this mod will absolutely function like the normal, in-game ones. Like michae95lalready said, use Airport Roadsinstead. Space travel?
